Returning for their seventh year, many members YD attended the largest paintball game in the world. ION (Invasion of Normandy), held annually at Skirmish USA in Albrightsville, PA, attracts players from all over the continent to pit the forces of Germany against the Allied Forces in this battle royal.
The Allies, this year led by General MadKow, made winning missions their main priority and defeated the Germans, led by General Goose, 106-98. It was a points game this year, to be sure, and the Allies did what they had to do to stay ahead in the points race. That being said, the Germans were relentless. They pushed the allies to their base all day and all night. It was an onslaught of epic proportions and they should be proud of that.

The German push wasn’t enough, however, to keep the Allies from their victory. It was a long weekend of constant missions, repelling the German horde and doing whatever it took to keep the points rolling in for the Allies.
Congratulations to our very own Captain Paul “Vector” DiNunno who was awarded with the MVP by General MadKow for his outstanding service to the Allied Forces. Congratulations also go out to the members of the YD who received promotions: Bob “Nippsy” Russell to Private E2, Brendon “Chrono” Kennedy to Private E2, Eric “Ozzy” Ossmann to Corporal, Jonathan “God” Jacobson to Sergeant and Brian “Teabag” Harvard to First Sergeant.

The Yankee Division Paintball Team has received the op order and is gearing up for battle! With 13 members confirmed as a “GO” for this event, the annual event in Upton, MA promises to be a hell of a game.

“We’re as ready as we can be!” said team GM Brian “Teabag” Harvard. “The games at Fox4 are always a great time. We love getting out there at one of our favorite local fields and throwing some paint with a bunch of our friends from the nearby area.”
The plan this game is to arrive early to setup their well known base camp…this time, a US Army GP Medium tent. With a 32 x16 footprint, there will be plenty of room to house the YD and anyone else that needs to get a break from the cold.

- A Frosty Roof, but a Warm Welcome at YD Base Camp
“We love having folks stop by! We offer them something to drink, a place to rest and a bite to eat.” says Joe “Woody” Walsh, master of the grill for this event. “This is the same type of hospitality that got me interested in this team at this very same event 4 years ago.”
At last year’s scenario, which was based on the 1984 movie “Red Dawn”, the YD was honored to receive the Most Valuable Team Award for it’s contributions on the field of battle. It is our hope that our presence at this years event will continue to be an asset to our commanding officers and our fellow players.
See you on the field!

The first game of the season. Cold as hell. So cold that Beerman had 2 inch icicles hanging from his beard by lunch time! That didn’t stop the men of the YD. With a six man squad and one in support, the boys used their on-field tactics combined effective radio use to help drive back the Germans in this great game of winter ball. Final Score Russians 217 / Germans 205.

“These guys just went out there and did their jobs.” said Jarrid “Stretch” Clifton, the YD’s XO. “Everyone including the newest guys, Chrono and Reverend, did phenomenal out there.”

Icicles of DOOM!
Speaking of “Phenomenal”…just how did the new Tippmann X7 Phenom perform out there in the cold? “Outstanding!” exlaimed Sgt. Steve “Beerman” Bachofner. “No problems with the paint, the cold, nothing. This gun cannot be stopped! That’s why we use em!” Yes, Beerman, yes it is!
Captain Malone from Team Extreme Measures (and the Germans this time around) had this to say: “YD, great job running missions. It was a Great game plan to keep us tied up all day while you guys ran the field. It worked.” Jim “SolidJimmy” Searle from the Connecticut Commandos followed with “Yankee Division, Stretch you and your boys earned your keep all day long from running missions to holding the line. You guys were a key part in our success. Congrats on our MVT.”
So all in all, a great day of paintball, some new faces on the field with the YD, and the MVT. What more can a First Sergeant ask for?
